Notes for REV. Henry WISE
The Rev. Henry A. Wise was an earnest and wonderfully eloquent Minister of the Protestant Epsicopal Church, Baltimore, MD. Having succeeded Dr. Hawks, in the Rectorship of that Church. Slender and frail in body and health, he made those hallowed walls ring with his fervid eloquence and impassioned appeal for the Salvation of his flock until frequently there would not be a dry eye in the building scarcely. There was nothing of the “Sensational” attempted by him. He spoke and his congregation felt as though he was tottering upon the brink of another world, and that he had not long to be with them. He died a young man after a short ministration, greatly beloved and by his parishioners and acquaintances. His wife was ?? Haxall, daughter of Barton Haxall, a very prominent gentlemen of Richmond, VA and Miss ??, his wife.
